HEY FRIENDS!!!! I am a wife, after an almost 3 year engagement we finally got married on November 29, 2019 (Black Friday, how fitting?)
We decided to get married in San Juan, Puerto Rico... our home, we wanted to have Jorge's grandparents present, but unfortunately, they both passed away that year.
We started planning December 2018-January 2019 and we were able to get vendors to work on such a hectic day! I have to say that I almost thought that we were not going to find a venue, due to the fact that vendors were telling us that they are getting booked 2 years in advance, that's just plain crazy. The first thing that we hired was our wedding planner, Barbie Diaz. Barbie was my brother's second grade teacher and my colleague when I first started teaching. It is very imperative that you have a connection to your planner and vendors. It is imperative that they know and understand the vision that you want for the big day.
Planning a destination wedding is extremely hard, you have to rely on your wedding planner and vendors 100%, thankfully my parents and our families live in Puerto Rico so the process was much easier, I had to also rely on FaceTime and social media. Many of my vendors, my wedding planner knew or had already worked with them in the past, so they were recommended. I have to say that out of all of the things, the most important thing was photography and video. I met Alexa and Sam via FaceTime in one of the bridal shows my mom attended with my grandma and aunt. We instantly clicked and made such a great connection, I loved their work and photography, plus I was looking for more natural pictures rather than those posed ones. When we got the preview the day after our wedding, we were over the moon in love with the work. They did such a beautiful job, very professional.
Another big thing was the decor and the flowers, Rey and Edgardo from Konpalos exceeded our expectations and even surprised me with my grandmother's favorite flowers, orchids. I cried as soon as I saw them, my wedding planner told me to stop crying so that I would not ruin my makeup.
That was such a magical day, our families and friends were present. It was about us and our love for each other, about how much we mean to each other. It was truly the best day of our lives.
